We are excited to announce that Swan City Snipers Basketball Inc (SCS) have entered into an agreement and secured the use of the basketball undercover court at Kiara school Good Shepherd Catholic School for training purposes over the next two years.
SCS donated two of the Retro B72 adjustable height hoop systems from basketball system supplier Boomering in Wangara to Good Shepherd in return for use of the training space. Zec Engineering has been an integral part to the agreement and completed the installation of the hoop system to ensure the frame was safely fabricated and installed to the schools’ requirements.
This upgrade to the school’s current basketball systems will benefit not only the SCS basketball club but will be able to be used by the students at Good Shepherd Catholic School, encouraging them to be active during breaks and after-school. Good Shepherd Principal Nic Gaglia said ‘Basketball is a great way to promote physical activity and develop essential skills such as hand-eye coordination, balance and agility. By encouraging our students to participate in basketball, we are helping them to lead healthy and active lives’.
Majority of SCS’s 17 teams will now train at Good Shepherd. The partnership between SCS and Good Shepherd Catholic School means SCS players and coaches have a safe and secure place to train located within the City of Swan. “The use of the undercover courts also means that we can train in any weather conditions” says SCS Club President Melvyn Aliphon.
SCS just started their fourth season competing at Swan Active Beechboro.
The club has grown to have over 130 players in 17 teams from under 8s to under 18s age divisions.
Club President Melvyn stated “This partnership with Good Shepherd Catholic School allows us to continue to provide a fun and safe environment for local youth to learn the fundamental skills of basketball, and build lifelong friendships in the process”.
